FT Housing Coordinator

Position: Seeking to fill a Bilingual (Spanish/English) FT Housing Coordinator position. To assist with Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS/HIV (HOPWA) Program by providing housing and supportive services to low-income individuals and their household. Engage participants in finding and/or maintaining affordable and stable housing, reducing their risk of homelessness, and improving their access to health care and supportive services. Help households obtain permanent housing, including assistance for shared housing arrangements, in the private rental housing market by developing a Liaison amongst client, landlord and HOPWA Project Coordinator.  Must be able to coordinate a housing assessment and application for each household to ensure participants meet the HOPWA qualifications including being actively involved in medical case management services. Assist clients to prepare and fulfil Individualized housing plan to include income/resident rent eligibility, verification of HIV/AIDS status, client budget/expenses, necessary labs, and obtain an owner’s Internal Revenue Service Form W-9 yearly.

Qualifications: Bachelors preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related field, Minimum of 2 years housing coordination experience and working with HIV/AIDS clientele. The position requires strong organizational skills, verbal communication skills, and flexibility. An understanding of the HIV/AIDS population, barriers to care, disease prevention and transmission of sexually transmitted infections, substance abuse, and sensitivity to the social stigma that exists for persons living with HIV are helpful. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation. A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving clients, private sectors and fellow employees, to include HIPAA. Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work with other staff.
