Workforce Programs

Tec Centro offers convenient training courses for a variety of industries and career paths. These courses are designed to quickly and comprehensively prepare the individual or the student for the workforce with opportunities for continued growth. Explore the current course offerings below and sign up using the link provided.

Courses may have a $25-$50 processing fee plus the cost of books/uniforms, a criminal background check, and if needed, a medical exam. For 90% of the programs, a high school diploma or GED is required. Each course, except for forklift training, includes Essential Skills Training , which includes customer service, soft skills, and a job readiness component.

Training may last between 3 to 9 months depending on the course. Upon completion of the class, students will receive a certificate of completion and/or National or State Certifications. There are classes both during the day and in the evening.

Medical Field

  • Certified Nurse Aide

    10-Week Program

    The Nurse Aide training program is an 8- to 9-week program that prepares a student to become a vital member of the health care team in the role of a nurse aide/nursing assistant/CNA caring for residents in skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, rehab centers and other healthcare facilities. Program topics include how to bathe/shower and dress a resident, denture care, how to properly feed a resident, how to get them into or out of a bed or chair, privacy, infection control and resident rights.A student successfully completing this program will receive a certificate of completion from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and will be eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program examination administered by Credentia. Upon passing both the NNAAP written and skills performance exam, the student is placed on the PA Nurse Aide Registry. (A student who successfully completes the nurse aide training program can be employed for 120 days before they must take the NNAAP examination.)"

  • Medical Assistant

    20-Week Program

    The Medical Assistant/CCMA program is a 20-week full-time program that prepares a student to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). This program includes an introduction to healthcare, medical terminology, anatomy, human illness and disease and essential skills training. Medical Assistants help with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information for medical records. Medical Assistants may be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. A student successfully completing this program will receive a certificate of completion from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and will take the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification examination and be prepared to work as an entry-level medical assistant.

  • Phlebotomy Technician

    15-Week Program (Part-Time)

    The Phlebotomy Technician program is a 15-week program that includes 100 hours of classroom/lab instruction and concludes with an 80-hour clinical/externship experience. Phlebotomy technicians are critical team members in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and physician offices. They draw blood from patients, explain the blood-drawing procedure to patients and help them feel comfortable, obtain urine and other specimens for testing, and maintain medical equipment and supplies. A student will learn proper blood-drawing and specimen collection technique, how to maintain lab safety and infection control, proper requisitioning methods, and specimen transportation and processing A student successfully completing this program will receive a certificate of completion from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College and will take the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification examination.

  • Healthcare Office Assistant

    27-Week Program

    The Healthcare Office Assistant (HOA) program is an 18/week educational program that prepares the student for an entry-level position in an outpatient healthcare setting or patient access center. This program includes medical terminology and essential skills training. Students will become familiar with the general workflow of an outpatient medical practice, gain an understanding of medical insurance, and will be exposed to basic PC skills and the basic use of electronic medical records. A student successfully completing this program will receive a certificate of completion from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, and will take the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) examination and be prepared to work in a medical administrative role.

  • Dental Assistant

    27-Week Program

    The Dental Assistant is a 27-week program that prepares participants for an entry-level career in the dental field. This program includes essential skills and CPR training. Students in the class will gain the knowledge and skills to assist with dental treatments and help others maintain their oral health, how to perform procedures, process radiographs, performing chairside, laboratory procedures, and other office duties.  Our curriculum allows you to spend a total of 160 hours working in a variety of dental office settings where you can be exposed to all aspects of dental practice. Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to take the Radiation Health & Safety Certification (RHS) endorse by DANB (Dental Assisting National Board)

  • Culinary Arts

    15-Week Program

    This Culinary Arts is a 15-week program that prepares participants for entry-level employment in the culinary field. The programs include essential skills training This class is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and specific proficiencies of culinary arts, food service, supervisory, and other related skills that are necessary for earning a successful career in the hospitality industry. Areas of focus include knife safety, a variety of cultural food preparation techniques, dining room management, food cost analysis, menu planning, and food safety adherence. Our curriculum allows students to complete over 120 hours of hands-on restaurant experience at Café Centro. Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to take the ServSafe Certification endorsed by the National Restaurant Association.

Mechanical/Technical

  • Facilities Maintenance Technician

    24-Week Program

    This FMT is 24 weeks of training that prepares participants for employment opportunities in residential, commercial, and institutional settings. The program includes essential skills training in addition to HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, carpentry, and more. Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and will be eligible to take the OSHA, EPA, Forklift, Power Actuated Fastener, Lockout/Tagout, and Rigging certifications.

  • Commercial & Industrial Electro-Mechanical

    24-Week Training

    The C & I Electrical is a 24-week program that provides the opportunity to acquire the theory and skills needed to gain employment in the manufacturing, and factory setting as an entry-level industrial maintenance technician with basic skills in mechanical systems, and electrical systems. The programs include essential skills training. Students of the commercial and industrial electrical program will be able to hit the ground running to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment most used in today’s high-tech manufacturing facilities. Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and will be eligible to take the OSHA certification.

  • Commercial & Industrial Plumbing

    24-Week Training

    The C & I Plumbing training is a 24-week program that will prepare students to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in new and existing commercial and industrial buildings or structures with industrial-grade fixtures, pipes, and outlets. Some of the skills acquired are joining different types of piping materials and installing and repairing industrial-grade pipes, plumbing fixtures, faucets, and water heaters. The program includes essential skills training. Employment opportunities in the commercial and industrial plumbing industry can range from basic office buildings to large-scale buildings/complexes, factories, hospitals, malls, and manufacturing facilities. Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and will be eligible to take the OSHA certification.

  • Commercial & Industrial HVAC

    24-Week Training

    Commercial and Industrial HVAC training is a six-month program that prepares the student for the fast-growing, commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning field. The programs include essential skills training. Students learn current methods of identifying and performing efficiency evaluations on various types of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems for large buildings or structures such as hospitals, schools, and housing structures. Students successfully completing this program will receive a Certificate of Completion from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and will be eligible to take the OSHA and EPA certifications.

  • Forklift & OSHA

    8-Hour Training

    This one-day course prepares students with the basic skills to operate two different types of forklift equipment. During the training, students will take a written test and a driving test.

  • Computer Software Information Systems

    24-week training

    Information sciences drives business operations in manufacturing, retail, logistics, medicine, aerospace, construction, and defense industries, as well as our everyday lives. The need for computer information professionals will continue to increase as organizations seek new applications for computers and networks in the workplace. Our CSIS program will prepare students to pursue a career pathway, including:
    - Data Center Operations Support - Network Technician

    - Computer User Support Specialist - Administrative Support

    The CSIS program will provide students the opportunity to develop skills needed in the business world. This is a rapidly paced program, preparing students in:
